I perform the full spectrum of adult cardiac surgery from beating heart, off pump CABG, through valve repair and replacement, surgery of the aortic root, arch and descending aorta, surgery for arrhythmias, minimal access surgery to surgery for heart failure and heart and lung transplantation including LVADs and Mechanical Circulatory Device Implantation for severe cardiac failure.

I work in Al Zahra Hospital Dubai, UAE. I provide cardiac and thoracic surgical care which is carefully tailored to the needs, requirements and choices of our patients.
Dr Babar Bashir Chaudhri studied Medicine at the University of Cambridge and has been in clinical practice since 1992. He subsequently underwent extensive training in cardiac and thoracic surgery in London and Scotland.
He then super specialised in aortic, mitral and minimally invasive cardiac surgery and heart as well as lung transplantation during fellowships in Harefield and Freeman Hospitals in the UK and in MHH, Hannover, Germany.
He has performed in excess of 5500 adult cardiac surgical operations, 800 major thoracic operations. He is an expert in off pump/ beating heart coronary surgery, aortic root/arch surgery and mitral valve repair and complex valvular and redo cardiac surgery. He is trained in thoracic surgical oncology, including surgical staging and resections. He has specialist skills in heart and lung transplantation (50 heart, 48 lung implants) mechanical circulatory assist devices (40 LVADS) and surgery for heart failure. He has extensive experience in minimally invasive and complex cardiac surgery, especially re-operative valvular surgery, and surgery for atrial fibrillation.
He has published extensively in the scientific journals and has performed research in the domain of heart failure which has changed our understanding of the pathology of heart failure and altered clinical practice.
He provides the highest quality of cardiovascular and thoracic surgical care at its leading edge. He has a particular interest in the surgical treatment of patients with aortic valve and root disease as well as pathology of the ascending aorta and arch, and heart as well as lung failure.
